Maintain item unit conversions and barcodes
Open the individual Item → UOM. Keep the stock unit at conversion factor 1. Add the alternate UOM and enter the number of stock units represented by one alternate unit. Choose the exact Link result and commit the numeric field before saving.
Before you start
Use your authorized ERP account and the correct company. These screenshots use fictional staging records. Replace the example quantities, dates, warehouses and values with your approved business information. Submission affects the relevant workflow or stock ledger; review the draft first.
Addresses used in this tutorial
ERP_URL is your organization’s ERP address. ACADEMY_URL is the Academy base address: staging uses https://erpstaging.nexcommand.ai/academy; production uses https://academy.nexcommand.ai. Saved record IDs and temporary draft IDs differ between installations. Course IDs and element IDs in the example are not portable to another installation.
Step-by-step instructions
Set the packaging conversion
Open the individual Item → UOM. Keep the stock unit at conversion factor 1. Add the alternate UOM and enter the number of stock units represented by one alternate unit. Choose the exact Link result and commit the numeric field before saving.
- Example / selection
- NC-DOCS-COVER-M; one Box = twelve Nos
- Expected result
- The conversion describes the actual packaging quantity.
{ERP_URL}/desk/item/{RECORD_ID}
Save and verify the conversion
Save, then review UOM again. Confirm both the stock unit and alternate factor. Avoid changing a conversion used by existing stock transactions without a controlled review. Transaction quantity in Box must convert correctly to stock quantity in Nos.
- Example / selection
- Nos factor 1; Box factor 12
- Expected result
- The saved conversion persists.
{ERP_URL}/desk/item/{RECORD_ID}
Enter the item barcode
Open Inventory → Barcodes. Add the exact barcode, supported Barcode Type and associated UOM. A barcode on an individual variant identifies that variant; do not use one code for unrelated items.
- Example / selection
- NC-DOCS-COVER-M-001; CODE-39; Nos
- Expected result
- The row identifies the intended variant and scanning unit.
{ERP_URL}/desk/item/{RECORD_ID}
Save the barcode
Save and reopen Inventory. Review the barcode row and remove accidental empty rows before saving. A barcode master does not itself print labels or post inventory.
- Example / selection
- Saved CODE-39 barcode
- Expected result
- The code is available to the scanner lookup.
{ERP_URL}/desk/item/{RECORD_ID}
Verify the scanner match
Open Supply Chain → Barcode & QR Scanning → NexCom Scan. Enter the configured code and choose Find record. Confirm the returned item code and description before using it in a stock workflow.
- Example / selection
- Resolved Item NC-DOCS-COVER-M
- Expected result
- The barcode resolves to the correct individual variant.
{ERP_URL}/desk/nexcom-scan-console
Verified result
The variant saved Nos factor 1 and Box factor 12. Its CODE-39 barcode and Nos UOM were saved, and a typed-code lookup resolved to NC-DOCS-COVER-M. No camera, printed-label scanner hardware, alternate-UOM stock posting or inventory movement was tested by this maintenance walkthrough.
Troubleshooting
Wait for Link search results and choose the exact record. Leave each edited field to commit its value. Check required dates in every item row. A saved draft and a submitted record are different states. If validation fails, correct the highlighted field and verify the saved result before continuing.
